How To Keep The Thrill?

Are you familiar with that feeling when you got it all figured out or fall into some boring routine and you lose the interest in things (or people)?

In order to succeed, you need to do all of the work, not just the thrilling part. You can keep some of the thrill though, you just can’t feel it all the time. Or can you?

I did a small research on the topic, and at the end, everything leads me down into the addiction again.

We are all addicts to some point. It’s just a matter of the direction. You can use this in a constructive or destructive way.

There was one thing that repeated in the articles. It was the change and the need for it.

Change is the only constant in life. And we need some change in order to keep the thrill.

To keep the motivation up, we need to reward ourselves regularly.

It’s also good to keep your goals to yourself, because talking about them too soon, can actually kill the thrill.

What about you, how do you manage to keep the thrill in different areas of your life?

I so know what you mean, with this! Yet at times, I’ve been too impulsive, so excited by the new goal that I’ve gone and told people. And yes, it is often detrimental for me to do that 😆.

    Absolutely true :).

“Are you familiar with that feeling when you got it all figured out or fall into some boring routine and you lose the interest in things?”

Yup! I’ve felt this :). It seems a common ADHD thing. The chase is more appealing than achieving the goal. I felt this strongly when I managed to work as a freelance software developer. It quickly became boring because it wasn’t really in line with my main needs/values.

That need for change, is also part of why I can’t sit down and watch most movies!

  2. Re the thrill vs the work, I [being male] have long had a military metaphor for this – before an army can confront the enemy they first have to trudge on foot for many days [now of course they use helicopters and aircraft] – boring but essential – then comes the thrill of the battle where you sometimes win, sometimes lose.

Addiction? I think there is a core addiction – addiction to life?

    • Many people can’t imagine how hard can be to actually kill yourself, even though you really want to. Especially if your drive to life is really strong, like in my case. From my point of view, I believe in this addiction to life.
