What’s The Story Behind The Green Ribbon?

Mental health is still a taboo, even though people became a bit more open through the years.

This field is still a mess and people are often confused. About themselves, about their illness, about other people’s illness,… And the green ribbon really doesn’t help here.
Because it already has some other meanings.

Other meanings of green ribbon: kidney disease, mitochondrial disease, cerebral palsy, mental health, Levellers and early Whig radicals, awareness of other political and cultural issues, support of farm families, HIV virus, awareness of other health and safety issues.

World Mental Health Day or not, I wish you all a nice day. 🙂

What about you, do you have any specific message you’d like to share on this particular day? 🙂

  1. You’d think they could have imagined a better color for the ribbon; certainly not one that has already been taken. Still amazes me the stigma attached to mental wellness. My thought for today? Consideration Before Condemnation.

  2. Yes, I am confused about all the colours and their meaning and you are right, one should be aware every day. It is not easy with all the complications of modern life, but everyone needs to disconnect from their own feelings once in a while and try to see other points of view and other people’s problems.
